Dates Filling Fast!

Posted by Chris Hill on Monday, March 28th, 2011 - 11:52 am

Christmas may seem a distant thought, but planners know prime dates are already gone.

In working with several clients for their annual Christmas Party this morning I’ve been contacting several of my regular venues and find private function rooms are already taken for many December Friday’s and Saturday’s.

The easy lesson is book your holiday party, staff appreciation get together or Christmas Party now. This year it appears the entertainment budgets are coming back after a couple ye3ars of slim pickings so the competition will be in full swing.

So, send us a quote request and we’ll take it from there!

Dragons’ Den

The pitch is in and the Dragons will breathe fire into our idea!

On Saturday Slixer pitched the conept of taking Murder Mystery Theatre nationwide, although not entirely a new concept, as we have competition, the nationwide aspect is new and our talent pool has depth. A very tall order and many logictics must be filled out.

Venues, talent, timing all must be coordinated and then a massive marketing plan must be put into place. all of this would be fantastic to have the likes of Jim Treliving ot Mark Harjvec on team Slixer as they have connectioned to venues, ticketing and in Jim’s case; Global Entertainment which would happily handle the traffic we’d like to generate of 3 shows in 12 cities every week.

The pitch itself went of with a bang, we came in and did a small samplke of what to expect of our dinner theatre and let’s just say there was gun play! They loved it! that’s the key to preparing for the Dragons’ Den, know you product, know your market and most especially do not over value y

So, all in all, whether the Dragons on Dragon’s Den decide to jump on board next season, we will be offering one of our very popular murder mystery dinners at a venue near you. The difference seing we’d have to offer them city by city rather than 12 cities: Seattle, Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal and Boston.

Arctic Co-operatives Improv Show: “I was pleased with the performers… it was entertaining and the performers worked hard at their craft.”

So next time you’re wanting to add some comedy to your event, think of some Improv as a nice, fun and comedic way to engage the guests.

Company Play Time!

Posted by Chris Hill on Friday, March 4th, 2011 - 4:31 pm

Everyone knows all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, so why not spice up your next event?

When I’m staying at hotels, I like to see the daily functions list and will check out their itineraries. The companies holding conferences often involve a lot of seminars, special speakers, break for lunch, more speeches and then maybe a dinner; that’s it! No fun, all work.

Yet with the amount of murder mystery shows, scavenger hunts and improv shows we’ve done at these events and the amazing feedback we get I don’t understand why more companies don’t add these much need entertainment reliefs to their agendas. The attendees love it! We always customize it to suit the particular company and we incorporate it in such a way as to make the participants feel they’ve been treated special, different than their usual conference.

You’ll end up with a more attentive audience for the speeches and will encourage better attendance if you include say, a murder mystery dinner on the invitation. It can help customize the invitation as well with a well themed catch like; “everyone knows seminars can be murder, but this one really is!” or “This year’s annual conference has an air of mystery to it” or if doing scavenger hunt “Clue: You’ll can find the conference while whistling through the seasons – Answer: Four Seasons at Whistler” and then elaborating more on the invite.

We will gladly help with these arrangements as well we always coordinate with the chosen venue or have many of our own that we regularly work with that love having us perform in their fine establishments. You see them listed on the city of your choice under locations.

Another great way to really mix things up is to have say, a limo scavenger hunt or an amazing chase during the day and then a murder mystery for dinner, or why not combine a movie making event based on your conferences theme and then a magic show followed by some hilarious improv comedy. The combinations are endless, but again, that’s where we excel, taking care of all the details and helping you decide the best fit for your occasion.

So go on, be the fun company and add some pizazz into your next conference or event, your attendees will thank you for it and you’ll be hailed as a hero!
